Having judged the SSEAG’s first ever All Ireland fleece show last year (2021), it was a real privilege to have the opportunity to enter some of our fleeces into this year’s show and to have them fibre tested by AAFT and appraised by BAS Judge; Barbara Hetherington.
We entered 6 fleeces in total, representing white (1x junior) , light (1x junior, 1x intermediate & 1x adult), brown (1x intermediate) and grey (1x intermediate) and were blown away to have been awarded Champion and Reserve Champion Light (Amberly Tequila Slammer and Amberly Logician) , Champion Brown (Beckbrow Touchdown), Champion Grey (Velvet Hall Qilaut) and Reserve Champion White, overall Reserve Supreme Champion and Judge’s Choice (Amberly Tactical).
Our top scoring fleeces were Amberly Tactical (white junior 88pts), Amberly Tequila Slammer (Light Adult 87pts) and Amberly Logician (Light Intermediate 83.5pts). If we could ever choose one accolade at a show, it would always be to achieve Judge’s Choice and so, Tactical being awarded this, really was the icing on the cake!
Huge thanks to the SSEAG for organising the event, to Moonhall Alpacas for hosting, to Barbara Hetherington for her expert judging and to Paul Vallely-Art Of Fibre, for fibre testing.
Also, congratulations to all of the other entrants on their achievements.
We’re really looking forward to receiving our beautiful handmade trophies, but will wait to collect these in person…we definitely want them all in one piece.
